DQ381 & DQ500 DSG TCU - Now Available as a New Bosch Original Part
After several years of waiting, we can finally offer a new repair solution for the 7-speed DSG gearboxes DQ381 and DQ500. Brand-new Bosch original control units are now available individually from Langwieser Performance - including vehicle-specific programming. The control units of this mechatronic design are known for various defects and error messages. The pressure sensor issue with the fault codes P173500 (P1735) and P173600 (P1736) occurs particularly frequently. Until now, usually only the complete mechatronic unit was available as a spare part from the authorised dealer. With our new repair solution, we can offer the control unit individually and thereby save our customers considerable repair costs.

Known problems and fault codes with the DQ381 / DQ500

The control units of the DQ381 and DQ500 mechatronics can develop various electrical defects. These can lead to error messages, shifting problems or restrictions of the gearbox function. Among the best-known problems are the fault codes P1735 and P1736, which indicate electrical faults of the clutch position sensors or the known pressure sensor issue.

Overview of known fault codes

Fault code Fault description Internal code

P174D00 (P174D) Electrical malfunction valve 2 in sub-transmission 2 10744
Note on fault diagnosis: The listed fault codes can indicate a defective control unit. Since other causes are also possible, an appropriate fault diagnosis should be carried out before the replacement.

Vehicle-specific programming at Langwieser Performance

Vehicle-specific data is stored in the original control unit. This data must be transferred to the new control unit before installation. For this, we transfer the existing data 1:1 from the old to the new Bosch control unit. The programming is carried out exclusively in-house and is already included in the purchase price. Important: Cloning with commercially available diagnostic or programming devices is not possible with these control units. If the old control unit can no longer be accessed via diagnosis, please contact us in advance. These cases must be checked separately. In many cases, we can nevertheless offer a suitable solution.

How ordering and programming works

1. Order a new control unit

Order the matching Bosch control unit directly via our online shop.

2. Send in the old control unit

Send us only the removed control unit without the hydraulic part. Enclose the printed order confirmation in the package. Please ensure sufficiently padded, transport-safe packaging.

3. In-house programming

After receipt, we transfer the vehicle-specific data to the new Bosch control unit. The processing time is a maximum of one working day after receipt, provided the old part is readable and no separate check is required.

4. Shipping of the new control unit

After successful programming, we ship the new control unit to you.

What needs to be considered after installation?

After installation, the existing adaptation values must be reset and the required adaptations must be carried out again. These include in particular the adaptation of the clutch characteristic curve and the basic setting of the gearbox.

Cost-effective alternative to replacing the complete mechatronic unit

In our experience, the cause of the problems with this mechatronic design lies in the control unit itself in about 90% of the cases we have examined. Since the authorised dealer usually only offers the complete mechatronic unit as a spare part, a repair often results in correspondingly high costs. With our new Bosch original control unit, we offer an economical alternative. Instead of the complete mechatronic unit, the electronic unit can be replaced in a targeted manner in the case of a corresponding control unit defect. Thanks to the already included vehicle-specific programming, the additional activation at the authorised dealer is also no longer necessary, provided the requirements for the data transfer are met.
