Frequently asked questions about mechatronics testing and repair
1) What should be clarified before contacting us?
If there are functional limitations or malfunctions, it is essential to check the fault memory of the transmission control unit before contacting us.
If fault codes are stored, please take a photo and have it ready. We need the exact wording of the fault code.
Statements like “something with a valve or so” unfortunately won’t help us.
2) How should I package the mechatronic unit for shipping?
This is where most issues occur! Mechatronic units contain oil and are always oily on the outside.
When packing, make sure no fluid can leak. Even if the outside has been cleaned, oil will always leak during transport – always!
⚠️ Important: The DQ200 7-speed DSG mechatronic has its own oil circuit – please drain it as thoroughly as possible before shipping.
If oil leaks from the package during transit, the parcel may be returned to the sender. This causes unnecessary delays. Additionally, the shipping provider may charge us a cleaning fee, which we would unfortunately have to pass on to you.
✅ The solution is simple: Use a properly sized box, enough padding, and place the mechatronic unit inside a sealed plastic bag – airtight.
3) What must be included in the package?
-
Fault code printout
-
Problem description
-
Copy of vehicle registration document
-
Your customer data and contact details
4) How long does the inspection take?
The inspection is usually carried out on the same day the unit arrives at our facility.
5) What should I consider when reinstalling the repaired unit?
Installation must be done according to the manufacturer's specifications.
A basic adaptation via diagnostic tool is mandatory immediately after installation.
Failure to perform this may cause extensive damage to new parts or surrounding components.
6) Is express return shipping available for international customers?
Absolutely! We offer fast international return shipping via UPS.
If you’d like this service, just let us know.
7) How long is the warranty on a repaired mechatronic unit?
We offer a 2-year warranty on all parts installed by us.
8) Which mechatronic types can we test and repair?
We are capable of testing and repairing all 6-speed and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission variants.
9) How much does a repair cost?
Inspection of the mechatronic unit costs €120 incl. VAT plus return shipping.
After the inspection, we will provide a detailed quote.
Prior to that, only a non-binding cost estimate is possible.
Generally speaking, repair is significantly more economical than replacing the entire unit.
